GUATEMALAN JADE: Guatemala is the second source of Jadeite Jade in the world.
The Motagua river runs in a valley that has the only known source of jadeite (jade) in Mesoamerica and The important Maya site of Quirigua is near the river's north bank, as are several smaller sites with jade quarries and workshops.
Though its quality is not as excellent as Burmese Jadeite Jade, it still Jadeite Jade, the mineral is getting rarer and hard to get.
